Investigation Programs

General Check:

    • History
    • 24hour blood pressure measurement
    • X ray of the chest
    • Laboratory basic tests: Blood and Urine (about 20 parameters)

Cardiac Investigations:

    • ECG
    • Echocardiography (Cardiac Ultrasonography) transthoracic (from outside through the skin)
    • ECG under exercises
    • Laboratory basic tests: Blood and Urine (about 20 parameters)
    • In case of abnormalities or specific history for previous cardiac infarction: Coronarangiography and also cardiac scintigraphy

General abdominal problems:

    • Ultrasonography
    • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
    • General laboratory check

Gastric problems including esophagus and duodenum, for abdominal pains/discomfort or cancer prevention:

    • Gastroscopy
    • Biopsy

Colon (Bowel) problems including cancer prevention:

    • Recto-colonoscopy
    • Biopsy
    • Specific immunologic laboratory tests

Kidney diseases:

    • Special ultrasonography
    • Special laboratory examinations

Urology:

    • Cancer prevention program for prostate cancer

Thyroid diseases:
Functional tests and cancer prevention programs:

    • Basic laboratory
    • All additional investigations (Ultrasonography, scintigraphy, biopsy) will be done in the Department of Endocrinology

Diabetes mellitus:

    • Blood tests
    • Specific counselling

Hereditary cancer program:

    • Such diseases need specific diagnostic programs. These include blood tests, MRIs, often also scintigraphies and other tests.

Pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma:

    • 24hour blood pressure
    • Metanephrine and normetanephrine in the blood
    • MRI of the abdomen (in familial cases in addition also of the chest and neck)
    • 18fluoro DOPA scintigraphy or MIBG scintigraphy
